Welcome to the website of the Alabama Association of Nurse
Anesthetists. ALANA is the professional organization that represents
over one thousand nurse anesthetists and two hundred student
anesthetists in Alabama in matters ranging from governmental
practice issues, workplace issues, continuing education, public
relations, patient advocacy, and other matters related to the
promotion of the nurse anesthesia profession. This website is
developed and maintained to keep the members and friends of
ALANA informed on issues and opportunities of importance in
our rapidly changing health care environment.
Our Mission:
Advancing quality anesthesia care, serving
our members, promoting the nurse anesthesia profession.
Our Vision:
To be recognized leaders in anesthesia care, who:
- are known for their commitment to patient safety
- practice at the fullest extent of their scope of practice
- have 100% of Alabama CRNAs as members
- are fully reimbursed for their services
To our members, I ask that you check this website at least
once a week so that you can stay up-to-date on late-breaking
information that affects your profession. Links to matters of
urgency and importance will be posted on the left side of this
opening page. Use this website to contact members of your Board
of Directors. Use this website for details on our many state
association meetings. We have included downloadable registration
forms for your convenience. We have just added a resource for
you on the topic of Chemical Dependency. Important contact information
is included here to assist you. Just remember, all of your important
ALANA information is just an internet-click away, whether you
are at home, the hospital, or a friend's house.
To our patients, we have added an area just for you! Hopefully
you will find this area filled with information that will help
you understand what anesthesia is all about. There is even a
place where you can ask an anesthesia professional a question!
To our students or those interested in a career as a nurse
anesthetist, we have added an area for you too. Hopefully you
will find the answers to many of your questions about what a
career as a CRNA involves and what the educational requirements
are. You are the future of our profession and we will do our
best to help you in any way we can.
As president of the ALANA for the 2007-2008 term, it is my
pleasure to welcome all to the ALA-CRNA.ORG website. If I can
be of assistance to you, do not hesitate to ask.
Sincerely yours,
Shannon Scaturro, CRNA
